What can each kind of paper tell you?

When a mole changes or an erection becomes painful, you may want proof that names what happened, how sure doctors are, and how the result bears on your care. A planned human test can compare the drug with placebo, but its answer applies only to the people tested.

An animal or cell test may explain how an effect starts, yet it can’t predict your result. One patient’s report confirms the event occurred, but it doesn’t give a rate.

I’d check the people studied, the result, and the length of the work. Those details help you judge the strength of the finding.
